An Improved Model of the Heat Pipe Based on the Network Method Applied on a Heat Pipe Cooled Reactor

As the unique piece of heat transport equipment in a pipe cooled reactor, an accurate simulation is helpful for understanding real behavior reactor core and system. Based on network method, improved model which considers conductance wall, vapor flow space, liquid wick proposed. Meanwhile, gravity term also added to equation. Compared with experimental results copper-water pipe, validity this verified. Then, high-temperature sodium 1.0 m length selected as study object. analysis, it can be found that total temperature difference 31.7 K, drop caused by only 2.6 K. pressure mainly concentrated region, 8,422.47 Pa, space 896.68 Pa. In cases non-uniform heating cooling, high leakage, inclined operation, indicate greater non-uniformity or will pipe. With increase operating decreases significantly, increases. The operate at all positive inclination angles, but when angle exceeds −30° , reach capillary limit, may damaged. All these provide support design reactor.
